Nowadays, we hear more and more about a new kind of child from the professionals all over the world who deal specifically with the new generation.
Many of them tell their stories about how different kids now are or at least state a new kind of problem for their parents.
There have been many classifications offered as well as attempts to give a better explanation of the phenomenon.
They distinguish Indigos, Crystal Children and others from the previous generations.
However, all these kids are special and very gifted although very often are neither appreciated, understood, or accepted.
International authors and lecturers Lee Carroll and Jan Tober have studied the new generation for many years.
They have brought together some very fine minds (educators, doctors, psychologists, and more) in their book The Indigo Children; The New Kids Have Arrived.
Lee and Jan have been invited three times to present their message of love and hope at the United Nations. This is what they say about the phenomenon.
What Is an Indigo Child?
What is an Indigo Child? And why do we call them Indigo? First, the definition: an Indigo Child is one who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes and shows a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before.
This pattern has common unique factors that suggest that those who interact with them (parents, in particular) change their treatment and upbringing of them in order to achieve balance.
To ignore these new patterns is to potentially create imbalance and frustration in the mind of this precious new life.
Here are ten of the most common traits of Indigo Children:
1. They come into this world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it).
2. They have a feeling of “deserving to be here,” and are surprised when others don’t share that.
3. Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents “who they are.”
4. They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
5. They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
6. They get frustrated with systems that are ritual-oriented and don’t require creative thought.
7. They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like “system busters” (nonconforming to any system).
8. They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
9. They will not respond to “guilt” discipline (“Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did”).
10. They are not shy in letting you know what they need.
This is a list of characteristics to help identify whether a child is gifted or Indigo provided by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D. in her article “Gifted or Troubled?” published in Lee Carroll and Jan Tober’s book.
• Has high sensitivity.
• Has excessive amounts of energy.
• Bores easily—may appear to have a short attention span.
• Requires emotionally stable and secure adults around him/her.
• Will resist authority if it’s not democratically oriented.
• Has preferred ways of learning, particularly in reading and math.
• May become easily frustrated because they have big ideas but lack the resources or people to assist them carrying these tasks to fruition.
• Learns from an exploratory level, resisting rote memory or just being a listener.
• Cannot sit still unless absorbed in something of their own interest.
• Is very compassionate; has many fears such as death and loss of loved ones.
• If they experience failure early, may give up and develop permanent learning blocks.
The recently incarnated children are different from the preceding generations in many ways. The changes noticed in the youth are so magnificent that they are often called “children of the Light,” “millennium children,” “new children,” “psychic children,” “Indigo children,” “Crystal children,” “Masters,” “Emissaries from Heaven,” and so on. These kids are highly evolved and extremely sensitive. Thus, they should be treated accordingly. They deserve your respect and unconditional love. Allow your kids open up their abilities and discover their true essence!
